Philip Johnson
This portrait of the great architect Phillip Johnson was taken on an assignment for Spy Magazine at the studio I shared with Metropolitan Home on 22 St. Phillip came with Peter Eisenman and Robert Stern straight from the Four Seasons restaurant - in the Seagram’s building he had designed. I asked Philip to walk onto the set the minute he arrived with his overcoat and gloves. It looks like he is hailing a cab in this shot. There was a catering table and Philip went right for the girl scout cookies. We had to wipe the crumbs off of his coat.
