Edgar Kaufmann

$750.00Price

Edgar Kaufman Jr’s. father owned Kaufman’s Department Store in Pittsburgh.  When Edgar Jr decided to study architecture, he worked under Frank Lloyd Wright. His father came to visit him and asked Wright if he would be interested in building a house on a property he just bought outside of Pittsburgh.  That house became Fallingwater.  Edgar Jr. inherited Fallingwater when his father died, lived there for awhile, then left it to the Pennsylvania conservatory.  I had an assignment for Avenue Magazine in 1986 to photograph Kaufman in his NYC apt.  The art was insane.  He was very charming. Just two Pittsburghers taking some snaps.
