I arrived over two hours early for the Astros Parade in Houston on Friday. There are over 160 different cultures all living together in Houston - a fact they are incredibly proud of. It was all so great for this city that has gone (and is still dealing) with so much. I watched the police in riot gear joke with the crowd and pose for pictures as the gathering 800K strong took care of each other.
We were all too well aware of the dangers - yet tradition and joy trumped fear as everyone waved at the players and the players cheered back. Astro merchandise was having a field day. It felt like being in an old Life Magazine picture circa 2017.
