During the tail end of Covid, these young men were restless and needed to get back on the turf. A hybrid youth football team was formed in Morningside, and I went out to capture it all. Maybe it was coming out of Covid that had me so overwhelmed with how beautiful these athletes were. The coaches really didn't want to hear about beauty - they were training them to be tough. They mostly ignored me and let me do my thing. I still get overwhelmed looking at these images. Each player gave me a gift - and the gift was themselves.
