NORWEST
I had a great assignment photographing for Norwest Ventures, a private equity company based in Palo Alto, California. I photographed most of the people at the firm from the advisors, investors, and portfolio services team, to founders of the companies they have invested in. Many companies get dressed up, smile at the camera, and create something that doesn’t begin to convey the passion and unique talent they bring to their work.
Brand Navigation, led by founder Bill Chiaravalle, brought me in on this assignment. Bill is an incredible designer and made all of the work look alive across Norwest’s new brand identity.
There is a sense of honesty to the images, but also a sense of sophistication, confidence, and fun. Photography is often not appreciated for the messaging it can communicate and the heavy lifting it can do. I really believe we captured something that will bring great value to Norwest which is now being launched out into the world across their website, through many other platforms, and uses.
Every assignment I do is thanks to a client who appreciates my work. At Norwest, Lisa Ames both cleared a path for me to do my best work, and also had my back. In a world where images can appear just by talking into your phone, sometimes the need to hire a photographer seems to be a waste. But Norwest really “got it,” they themselves appreciate being seen as founder-focused, collaborative…human. They wanted a photographer to “put their faces forward,” and to capture their humanity. I believe we succeeded.
